Dr. Seki was exposed to nature from an early age and went on to study science. At Tsuruoka National College of Technology, she was involved in the development of new ways to use Fukushima silk, which had suffered from harmful rumours in relation to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident in 2011. She then went on to study at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies at Tohoku University, where she worked as a Tohoku University Science Angel (a group of female graduate students), started a family, and is now working on research into the disposal of radioactive waste. This is a good read for junior and senior high school students who are confused about their career choices.
